This is what I learned about Flagstaff Az while riding the airport shuttle bus in Dallas TX:
Flagstaff AZ was a train stop where a town grew up.
Flagstaff AZ is long as opposed to round.
The very best place to say in Flagstaff AZ is the Little America hotel.
Flagstaff AZ is only a two hour drive away to Phonenix where you can find all that a big city has to offer.
Flagstaff is high desert. Its 7000 feet up in the air. (References to sea level would be so much more interesting if you could turn around and actually see the sea - maybe a nice cliff or drop-off to really bring home the point.)
Puts me in mind of the song "Route 66".

It is also the home of the Percival Lowell Observatory, where in 1893 the Boston brahmin decided that all those dim markings on Mars were canals, thus starting an entire branch of science fiction.
