Just so it's not a total wash, I'll tell you that the zipper in the back of Michelle's dress is done in a style called invisible set. Back in the day, it used to be called a French set zipper. It looks like it would be harder to sew than a regular zipper, but it's not. In fact, it's easier. Although, frankly, all zippers are irritating to put in because you have to baste the seam first and then pull out those tiny little bits of thread when you're all done.
THE MORNING AFTER: the TV people are tripping all over themselves to say what a great night it was. I wonder what event they were watching because it sure as hell wasn't the one I saw.

Ms. Obama's dress did not fit her correctly.
There was bunching at the shoulders, as if it were handmade. Then they plopped a brooch, or some kind of design in the middle of the whole disaster.
Her eyebrows need to be redone. She looks angry.
Now that Hillary is put back on the shelf for awhile, I wonder if anyone will start attacking Ms. Obama's fashion sense?
